Production Process
Screen Mounting: The prepared screen is mounted onto the flat glass screen printing machine, ensuring it is properly aligned.
Ink Selection: The appropriate ink is chosen based on the application. In the case of flat glass, specialized inks such as ceramic, UV, or solvent-based inks are used, depending on the required durability and design.
Glass Positioning: The glass panel is positioned on the printing bed of the machine. Automatic machines often have vacuum suction tables or clamps to hold the glass in place.
Ink Application: The chosen ink is applied to the top of the screen.
Squeegee Movement: A squeegee is used to press the ink through the open mesh areas of the screen and onto the glass surface. The machine can be manually operated, semi-automatic, or fully automatic, depending on production needs.
Repeat for Multicolor Prints: If the design involves multiple colors, each color is printed using a separate screen. The screens need to be aligned precisely (registration) to ensure accurate color placement.
Drying/Curing: After printing, the glass passes through a drying or curing system. This could involve:
UV Curing: For UV inks, which harden under UV light.
Heat Curing: For ceramic or solvent-based inks, the glass is typically passed through a drying oven to ensure the ink fully adheres to the surface.
Air Drying: For some applications, air drying may be sufficient, though this is less common in industrial settings.
Applicable
Car Windows and Windshields: Screen printing is used to print functional elements such as defrosting grids, shading bands, logos, and markings on car windows and windshields.
Side Mirrors: Decorative and functional printing, including heating elements and branding, is applied to automotive mirrors.
Decorative Glass Panels: Buildings often use screen-printed glass panels with intricate designs for facades, windows, or interior partitions. This can include frosted patterns, logos, or colored designs.
Solar Control Glass: Special coatings or patterns are printed onto glass to manage light transmission, glare, or heat in architectural applications, such as in office buildings or conservatories.
Oven Doors and Panels: Screen printing is used for printing temperature-resistant designs, icons, and functional markings on oven doors and control panels.
Refrigerator and Microwave Panels: Printed designs on glass doors or control panels enhance the visual appeal of kitchen appliances and provide necessary instructions or indicators.
