Product Description
An offset printing machine is a type of lithographic printing machine. During printing, the printed images and text are printed from the printing plate to a rubber cylinder, and then transferred to the paper by the rubber cylinder.
According to the number of printing colors completed in one pass, it can be divided into single-color, two-color, and four-color printing machines; according to the largest paper format to be printed, it can be divided into small offset printing machines, six-fold, four-fold, folio and full-sheet printing machines. Sheet-fed offset printing machine is a lithographic printing machine, which is used to print high-end commercial printed matter and packaging printed matter, and is the mainstream of modern paper printing.

Production Process
Prepress Preparation
Design Creation: The design is created using software like Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or Photoshop, typically in CMYK color mode.
Color Separation: The design is separated into four layers corresponding to the CMYK color channels. Each color layer represents the amount of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black ink required for the final print.
Plate Making: The separated color files are transferred to printing plates, usually made of aluminum. Each color (C, M, Y, and K) gets its own plate. These plates have areas that attract ink (image areas) and areas that repel ink (non-image areas).
Proofing: Before the actual printing, a proof is created to check the quality and accuracy of the design, ensuring correct colors, alignment, and resolution.
Printing Process
Plate Mounting: The printing plates for each of the four colors are mounted on the plate cylinders of the press.
Ink Application: The press applies ink to the plates. The ink only adheres to the image areas on the plates.
Offset Process: Instead of directly applying ink from the plate to the paper, the image is transferred (offset) from the plate to a rubber blanket cylinder. This is done to protect the plate and allow for smoother image transfer to the paper.
Impression Cylinder: The rubber blanket cylinder then transfers the inked image onto the paper, which passes through the impression cylinder. This happens for each of the four colors in sequence (cyan, magenta, yellow, black).
Ink Overlapping: The paper passes through each color unit, and as each color is applied, they combine to produce a full-color image. The overlap of CMYK inks can create a wide range of colors.
Drying: Once the ink is applied to the paper, it needs to dry. Different methods, such as air drying, UV curing, or heat drying, may be used depending on the type of ink and substrate.
Post-Press Operations:
After printing, the sheets are typically cut, folded, bound, or otherwise processed depending on the final application.
Quality control checks ensure that the prints meet the required standards for color consistency, registration (alignment of colors), and finishing quality.
Applicable
Commercial Printing: Offset printing is commonly used for mass production of marketing materials such as brochures, catalogs, flyers, and posters. The four-color process is ideal for high-quality images and designs that require precise color reproduction.
Packaging: Offset presses are also used in packaging printing for boxes, labels, and packaging inserts, where high-quality color is essential for product branding.
Magazines and Books: Many magazines and books are printed using four-color offset presses, especially those with full-color images or illustrations. It allows for large-scale, high-quality production.
Newspapers: Many newspapers use offset printing, though they often utilize a simplified CMYK process with fewer colors to print both text and images.
Business Materials: Common business products like letterheads, business cards, and reports are often printed using four-color offset printing.
Art Prints and Photography: For high-resolution images, art prints, and photographic reproductions, offset printing ensures high detail and color accuracy.
