Production Process
Design Preparation
Create print artwork via Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or CorelDRAW. Finalize single-color design in grayscale or spot color (black, blue, red etc).
Plate Making
Transfer finished design onto aluminum or polyester plate with light-sensitive coating. Light exposure hardens image areas; unexposed areas reject ink. Chemically treat the plate, then mount it to the press plate cylinder.
Ink and Water Balance
Mount plate on cylinder. First apply thin water layer only to non-image areas. Then add ink. Water-repellent image areas pick up ink while wet blank areas repel ink. Water-ink balance delivers clean, precise printing.
Ink Transfer to the Blanket
The inked image on plate transfers to rubber blanket on blanket cylinder. Rubber blanket realizes smooth image transfer and offsets uneven surface of printing substrates.
Ink Transfer to the Paper
Paper runs between blanket cylinder and impression cylinder. Impression cylinder squeezes paper against blanket to transfer image onto paper. Only one color prints per pass. Re-run with new plates and inks for multi-color jobs.
Drying and Finishing
Dry printed ink by air drying or infrared drying based on ink & paper type. Trim, fold or cut printed sheets according to design and client demands.
